Which One is Better--Diesel Engine or Gas Engine

When you choosing an engine for your model or other vehicle, the query which kind is better may bother you occasionally. Now we can make a contrast between diesel and gasoline engine. Of course they both have their own advantages and disadvantages, what we need to do are just find the one suitable for our practical use.
First of all, diesel engine is more efficient than gasoline engine as it gets better mileage on average. The internal structure and energy density determined that diesel engine has more power. That’s to say, you can run same mileage with less fuel by using diesel engine. What’s more, its starter is not so complicated as gasoline engine for there are no spark plugs. When under good maintenance, the life span of diesel engine can endure till it was damaged. Its requirement of oil is also extensive, even simply used vegetable oil with mixed oxide can fit it. No wonder diesel engines can be the most reliable & practical one among many other kinds of engines.
Secondly, the low ignition point of gasoline determines the compression ratio of gas engine cannot high, in order to avoid oil and gas combustion. So its thermal efficiency and economy quality are not so good as diesel engine.
While that does not mean gasoline engine is not good enough. Generally, for small models or flexible vehicles, gasoline engine is the first choice. It has small volume which convenient to move and suitable for light load occasions. When given more gear changes it will gain bigger power band. Thus the advantages of the gasoline engine are its small volume, light weight, cheaper price, and high speed under maximum power, low vibration and noise during work. So gasoline engine has been widely used for cabs especially cars. Most cars are using gasoline engine as power system.
Moreover, comparing to the bulky diesel engine, it consumes less fuel and more safe when working. Especially from the viewpoint of environmental protecting, gasoline engine remits less particular matters and is much quieter than diesel engines.
Therefore, the comparison between the two kinds of engines is quite complicated. There are many objective factors which affect the functions of diesel engine as well as gasoline engine. What vehicle you have or need to buy also matters.
