Incandescent
In order to look slightly farther in the night outdoor, it’s unthinkable without incandescent light. It is not an easy thing to make incandescent bulb bright and energy saving. Filled with inert gas in the case of certain power bulb can enhance the brightness. For life expectancy, it’s usually fill with krypton and xenon and it is also a special sacrifice life in exchange for high-brightness, high-power halogen bulb.
For the outdoor point, it needs to take into account the use of versatility, reliability and long-term. The common inert gas bulb is appropriate. Of course, using the high brightness halogen bulb lamp also has its own absolute advantage.
LED
Practical use of high-brightness light-emitting diodes brought revolution in the lighting. Low energy consumption and long life are its biggest advantages. Use several ordinary dry batteries enough to maintain a high-brightness LED dozens or even hundreds of hours of lighting. Now the biggest problem of LED is light condenser.
Divergent light source causing it is almost impossible to illuminate the ground outside the 10 meters at night. The luminescent color also makes the lighting sharp decline in the rain and fog outdoors. Therefore, many lamps use several or even dozens of LEDs to try to improve these problems. Unfortunately, the effect is not obvious.
Now, ordinary LED is still more suitable for camping or tent use as its advantage is near light source.
Lamp bowl
An important factor in determining the quality of lighting is a reflection of the light source - light bowl. The ordinary lamp bowl is silver-plated plastic or metal bowl. For the source of high-power incandescent, metal lamp bowl is more conducive to heat and the diameter of lamp bowl determines the theoretical range.
In a sense, not the smooth light bowl, the better. The best effect of light bowl is a circle wrinkles orange peel. It controls the diffraction of light spot caused by the dark grain effectively and makes the lighting area spot more centralized uniform.
Many cases you may complain about why the lamps out of charge, and blame to the lamp itself. In fact, the choice of battery is also crucial, in general, ordinary alkaline battery capacity and discharge current is ideal. Its price is low and it’s easy to buy. But it is not ideal for large current discharge. NiMH rechargeable batteries energy density ratio is much higher and its recycling is economy, but self-discharge rate is higher too. Lithium battery discharge current is very ideal and it’s suitable for high-power lamps. But now the price of lithium is still relatively expensive.
Design and manufacture the ideal lamps require rich electronic, materials, mechanical, optical knowledge. Understanding of these fundamentals will help you choose the quality of lamps.
